Full-time postdoctoral positions are available in my group. Projects will involve work at the interface between physics and biology, on theories of neural coding and computation. Specifically, the goals of these projects will include: (1) formulating optimal coding strategies in neuronal populations, and (2) developing statistical and information-theoretical methods for charaterizing invariant neural feature selectivity (such as that of face-selective neurons or neurons in the song bird brain selective for its own song).
Candidates should have a strong quantitative background in computational neuroscience and theoretical physics. Completion of the PhD degree in any of these fields is required before the start date. The initial appointments will be for 1 year, and are renewable. Ability to program in C or Fortran, Mathematica/Matlab is a plus, but is not required.
To apply, please send a cv, brief statement of research interests, and three letters of reference by email to sharpee@salk.edu in PDF or text format.
